Description
Wave marks Patti Smith's fourth studio album and the final one billed under the Patti Smith Group. Released in May 1979, the album reflects the band's shift towards a more radio-friendly mainstream pop rock sound. While Wave received a mixed reception from music critics and was less successful than its predecessor, Easter (1978), the tracks Frederick and Dancing Barefoot both garnered commercial airplay.
