Released on April 16, 1996, Evil Empire is the second studio album by Rage Against the Machine. Its title alludes to a term coined by President Ronald Reagan and American conservatives in the early 1980s to describe the former Soviet Union. The track Tire Me earned the band a GRAMMY Award for Best Metal Performance in 1996. Notably, the album features the iconic single Bulls on Parade.
